Remote Sensing Based Conservation Effectiveness Evaluation of Mangrove Reserves in China

In recent decades, the mangrove area in China has changed dramatically, and governments have established multiple protected areas at various levels. However, we know little about effectiveness of conservation on mangroves a national scale. this study, constructed an evaluation index system for landscape health proposed composite (LHCI) to characterize status mangroves. Based distribution dataset forests 40 years, evaluated reserves from perspective health. The dynamics show that 83% increased after establishment reserves. Additionally, increase provincial-level, municipal-level, county-level was higher than national-level reserves, most significant Guangxi, followed by Fujian Hong Kong. results achieved outstanding China, with 43% significantly improving 35% maintaining good condition. Guangdong, Provinces showed more protective effects. Specifically, effective protecting were Qi’ao Island reserve, Maowei Gulf Enping reserve. This study may provide references formulating rapid method based remote sensing promote scientific management ecological restoration China.
